The First Tee certification program offers progressive levels of instruction in golf as well as important life skills.  Each child participates in group lessons and moves through levels to receive his/her membership card to The First Tee.

There are five components to The First Tee certification:

• Education
• Etiquette
• Testing
• Teaching
• Life Skills

Children can be certified in five levels:

• Pre-Par
• Par
• Birdie
• Eagle
• Championship

Children will be placed in class times according to age and skill level.  Day and time will be determined at time of registration.

The Life Skills Experience
The First Tee's vision is to provide life skills that can be used on and off the golf course.  The Life Skills Experience teaches skills that reach beyond the game of golf and sets The First Tee apart from other junior golf programs.  Setting goals, developing leadership skills and accepting responsibility can be learned through golf, and can be applied to other aspects of a child's life.

Virginia Beach Location

Classes meet once per week for 1 1/2 hours for six weeks

Fees: $99 per session (membership is required)
Fees include instruction, equipment and The First Tee card.  In addition, children who are currently registered in classes are entitled to complimentary driving range balls, short game area use and rounds of golf.

Upshur Neck Location
Classes are offered once per week for 1 1/2 hours for six weeks. 
Fees:  $10 per session for YMCA membrs
          $20 per session for non-YMCA membrs

Clinics are offered once per week for 1 1/2 hours in four (4) week sessions
at The Pines at Elizabeth City golf course. 
Instruction, equipment, and materials are included in the program fee.
